Manufacturing forum highlights Lean principles, flood recovery at WallGoldfinger
Nov. 5, 2014
Manufacturing company representatives interested in Lean principles are invited to Randolph corporate furniture manufacturer WallGoldfinger on Friday, Nov. 14 for a free forum.
Organized by the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) in Randolph Center, the forum is titled “Turning Tragedy into Triumph: How WallGoldfinger Rebuilt and Survived Tropical Storm Irene.”
WallGoldfinger, which boasts clients from the White House to the New York Stock Exchange, has been working with VMEC on Lean principles since 2009. In 2011, Irene’s floodwaters devastated the then Northfield company’s factory. The company moved to Randolph to part of the former Ethan Allen furniture factory on Hull Street and used Lean principles to help design a new manufacturing floor and office space for more efficient production.
At the forum, WallGoldfinger leaders will share their story of recovery and success and offer a tour of the factory.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. The presentation and tour are from 9-11 a.m.
The forum is free but participants must pre-register online at www.vmec.org.
