Sleek & Aerodynamic


Designed by Pier Fine Associates for a New York capital management firm, this 24'-0" conference table is the definition of sleek. The working surface of the table is quite conventional, utilizing plain sliced walnut veneer and a solid walnut reverse knife edge. The center island is something else again.


Undercut at its perimeter, the island appears to float above the surface of the table. It is constructed of a combination of ebonized veneer, glass, and statuary bronze cladding. Six power/data hatches are built into island’s perimeter and twelve button mics are embedded in its surface.


Here we have Will Francis, Wall Goldfinger’s shop supervisor, laying out some of the island’s complex geometry before wind tunnel testing.


Will Francis again, this time assembling elements of the island. WallGoldfinger typically subcontracts metal and glass components, but all parts are carefully fitted together in our shop prior to shipment.
