An elegant combination of stainless steel hatches, sycamore veneer field and solid walnut edges, this 36'-0" x 14'-0" table serves as a focal point in a major international law firm's New York conferencing center. Designed by Gensler, the table uses a modular construction concept: twelve 6'-0" x 3'-6" sections form the long sides of the open centered rectangle and two 7'-0" x 3'-6" “plug” sections are added to complete the loop. One of these latter sections is removable, thus allowing seating on the inside of the resulting “U” shaped table. The “U” configuration provides elbow room for 56 people while the closed configuration accommodates 34.
The individual modules each contain SS power/data hatches and WallGoldfinger's unique“flip over” microphone hatches. The “flippers” allow the multiple mini-gooseneck mics to pivot out sight, leaving a clean, unobstructed work surface and providing the added benefit of no more lost or misplaced microphones.
Each table top section is supported by a long, narrow, unobtrusive plinth style base, executed in walnut. The plinth, in turn, rests on a durable powder coated ½"-thick aluminum pad, thus creating a larger footprint for the sake of stability while minimizing the impact on leg and foot room
WallGoldfinger also provided twenty of its lightweight, reconfigurable Arbor tables for this client as well as a trapezoidal video conferencing table and several credenzas

The complete open centered rectangle is shown here. The table at the opposite end is the “plug” referenced above; when removed, a “U” is formed, allowing seats to be placed on all table edges. |

The multi-purpose room employs state-of-the-art video conferencing and presentation technologies and requires that the tables be compatible. A fully wired movable table is a tough assignment but WallGoldfinger, working with designers and AV consultants, was able to solve the inherent problems and arrive at a functional and attractive solution. |

This sequence shows WallGoldfinger's exclusive “Flipper” in action. In this case, the unit is fitted with short gooseneck microphones and is flanked by two “handed” hatches concealing power and data plugs. Located on the centerline of the table, the hatch/flipper strip is equally accessible from both sides. We're being asked to do more and more Flippers in different sizes and for different applications, and we’re, of course, delighted to comply. |
